We are now a registered member of Little Princess Trust who commission myself, Chris Baguley to create beautifully handmade children’s wigs and hairpieces for children who have lost their hair. Sadly, this can be due to chemotherapy and radio therapy treatment as well as other diseases and conditions such as alopecia. This service is completely free from Little Princess Trust and helps so many parents and children across the UK, which we are delighted to be a part of. If you would like to know any more information on our children’s wigs and service, we provide to Little Princess Trust please do get in touch. This page is dedicated to the children we have helped who have kindly and bravely shared their heartwarming stories with us and you.
In the first photo taken on her sisters birthday 23rd October 2016, Amelie had already begun suffering with a second round of Alopecia (her first being 4 small patches in 2015 which had all grown back)… We first noticed 2 x 50p sized patches at the end of October but assumed they would grow back as they did in 2015… However, sadly, the patches only became worse and by early December Amelie’s parting was growing noticeably wider and the patches were beginning to join up. Unfortunately Amelie had suffered a serious case of Pneumonia in May/June 2016 and medical professionals were almost certain that this was an acute case of Telogen Effluvium caused by trauma to her body. On this basis, we still had hope that the loss may slow down and would recover within a few of months. In the interim, we were able to conceal her loss by changing her parting and by taking advantage of wide head bands.
However, by early January Amelie loss was so severe around the crown area that the head bands made little difference and we were struggling to keep them in place for school. It was at this point that I found Baguleys of Cheshire and made contact with Chris Baguley. We had a consultation and he allowed Amelie to try out some hairpieces which she enjoyed! Chris had a very warm-hearted approach with Amelie and she was instantly comfortable discussing her hair loss with him… We agreed that at that stage we still didn’t really know what to expect within the next few months and that Amelie needed a temporary solution. Chris expertly crafted a small veil for Amelie which could be glued on top of her head and laid on top of the hair that she’d managed to hold on to. We had this fitted on 27th January 2017 – it truly couldn’t have come a moment too soon as Amelie’s hair had continued to fall our throughout January at a rapid rate and she was now quite disheartened and conscious of her appearance before her veil was attached). Chris had created something wonderful and Amelie was delighted. Her confidence soared and we so pleased! By March, sadly, Amelie had lost a significant amount more but was still smiling. Chris was able to take pieces from the hairpiece he’d used to create Amelie’s veil and added further sections. This was a great relief for us and Amelie – we were truly grateful for Chris’ expertise and ability to spontaneously create a bespoke solution for Amelie. Chris’ empathetic and caring approach was also a comfort and very welcomed, I really don’t know what we would have done without him!
It was at this stage that I got in touch with you Wendy and explained our desperate need for a full hairpiece for Amelie… Chris carefully took the necessary measurements, sent away samples of Amelie’s hair and worked with Amelie to get the hair she so desperately wanted (LONG!) After an anxious wait a very excited Amelie went over to have her new hair fitted on 6 June…. She was delighted with her hair and even more impressed that she could take it off at night (it was getting rather warm!). Unfortunately we quickly realised that a manufacturing error had meant that the hairpiece had been made too big. When compared with Chris’ mould it was quite a bit larger…. Chris rectified this immediately and did everything necessary to resolve the issue with the manufacturer… a new hairpiece was put into production without delay. In the meantime Amelie was able to retain the existing one and we managed to pin it and tape it on to secure it.
On the 24th August Amelie received her forever hair with adjustable nape straps. We cannot thank Chris or the Little Princess Trust enough for making this happen…. Chris exceeded all our expectations, went that extra mile with a personal touch and dedicated lots of time and effort in making Amelie happy. Anyone in a similar situation to us must meet Chris… I cannot recommend him enough.
On a very positive note Amelie’s hair is now starting to grow back on top…a much longer timeframe that anticipated with TE but we hope that it will continue in this way. We are prepared that Amelie may experience Alopecia Areata at any time and we do still see new patches appearing but we hope that the widespread loss is due to TE and will therefore improve.
Thank you once again, Wendy (Amelie’s Mum).
Lucy was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in 2009 aged 9 , and since then has endured surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Fortunately she is now in remission and is enjoying life to the full again. She lost all her hair during treatment and when it started to grow back post-treatment it became apparent that it was not going to grow back on the back of her head where the radiotherapy had been concentrated. Her hair grew over the bald patch, but is very thin and she is now a very self conscious teenager who is reluctant to look in the mirror, embarrassed to tie her hair up or experiment with hairstyles with her peers. Such low self esteem is a common phenomenon after cancer treatment.
Lucy had previously considered hair extensions but this would not have concealed the bald area at the back of her head. When we first met Chris, he very sensitively discussed all the options that could help solve Lucy’s particular hair loss problem and recommended she try the lace hair piece which would cover the baldness, and return the volume to her hair . Over a couple of consultations the hair piece was prepared and she was fitted with the finished product a couple of weeks ago. It looks amazing- as a mother it was like looking again at Lucy before she became ill which was extremely emotional but very up-liftling!! Lucy is absolutely thrilled- she can style her hair as she wishes without being worried about the bald area or the thinness of her hair. It looks completely natural as it is virgin hair, and matches her existing hair. It is very comfortable to wear and she got used to it very quickly. She has washed and styled it and is no longer reluctant to look in a mirror. She is now like any other 15 year old- and her self esteem has returned overnight along with her smile!. I cannot thank Chris enough for helping Lucy so sensitively and positively . He is always available if she has any concerns with the hair piece. A bonus is that he is connected with an amazing charity, the Little Princess Trust, which supports the cost of wigs and hair loss solutions for the parents of children suffering hair loss/baldness. They kindly liaised with Chris to manage the funding.
I would recommend Chris to anyone suffering hair loss problems-Lucy has her smile back as the photos show!!! Thank you so much Chris -we are so grateful for your expertise

We are delighted to have found Chris to provide a perfect solution for Beth’s hair loss. We had been facing this with total fear and dread but Chris eased our worries from the outset. He was knowledgable and reassuring from the first time we spoke to him.
Throughout the process Chris was attentive and very sensitive but didn’t dodge some of the tricky conversations we needed to have to come up with the perfect solution. We felt safe in his care throughout and our trust was well placed.
The result is that Beth is completely delighted with her new hair; she says it’s just like her old hair but better! She is now facing the world with confidence which is invaluable.
Chris has been a help and support to us beyond words and we will always be so grateful to him. Thank you!
Sydney who is 5 years old suffers from alopecia.
She was recommended to me by the little princess trust charity.
Since starting school she has unfortunately been bullied and all because she looks different without hair.
I am in the process of making her a custom made wig using her own mums hair who has kindly donated as you can see in the picture.
Her new hair system (wig) will be ready in October for cutting and styling.
Then you will see the after pictures of her transformation and how this has helped her confidence and quality of life.
There is no better feeling then putting a smile back on a child’s face and we promise to do just that.
